Caitlyn's Amazingly Awesome Blog:) <3

A blog for amazingly awesome people like me!!!!!!

A pet I’ve known- Ellie

Almost every morning I wake to the feeling of my bed dipping to one side and my dogs heavy breathing as she jumps on my bed. As I open my eyes she walks forward to lick my face then lays down to sleep some more beside me. Ellie is seriously the sweetest dog on Earth: she always gives me kisses, she is always begging for attention, and she has so much energy! She is also extremely protective which is really cute because she’s actually not that big- she barks at anyone and everyone who comes to the door.

She is a lab/border collie mix with some whippet, and we got her from Border Collie Rescue. She has short black fur with a white chest, white paws, and a white stripe down her face. She has a little question mark tail which is always up in the air. Ellie is always ready to go outside and run!!! It’s incredible how much energy she has- its like she could run all day and never get tired. She can also jump really high too: as high as my dads head. The fe things Ellie is afraid of are storms, vacuums, blenders, and riding in cars.

If my mom leaves the house and Ellie is outside, she will chase after the car because she doesn’t want my mom to leave. Also, whenever I get home from school Ellie is always waiting for me at the dot and when I walk in she jumps on me and attacks my face with kisses. Ellie is so sweet! I love her so much and she is the best pet ever!

Rain

I listened to the soft, calming pitter-patter of the rain as it hit the windows. I watched as tiny, tear shaped droplets of water came pouring from the sky into my backyard.

Barefoot, I stepped outside and out of my covered patio and into the drizzle of water. I quickly jumped over a puddle of cold dirty mud water, and landed on the hard stony concrete ground in my muddy backyard.

I looked up as the dazzling drops came down onto my face. I could feel them hitting my shoulders and hands. I stood there like that, listening to the rain all around me, watching the sky full of water fall down, and smelling the wet trees and soil.

Thanksgiving

This years thanksgiving was really busy! I had like three thanksgivings in one day, each with different people. My mom even baked four pumpkin pies so we would have enough!

My first thanksgiving was breakfast at my house with my grandmother. My parents made pumpkin pie waffles and eggs with turkey sausage. My mom was also going to make turkey bacon, but there was not enough time since we all woke up late. We came down to eat at around 10 and I just about stuffed myself! (But I left a little room since I knew we were eating pumpkin pie later.)

My second thanksgiving was lunch in a private dining room in my grandfathers nursing home, with of course, my grandfather. We went to Whole foods before we came and we bought turkey, mashed potatoes, and carrots. My mom brought the pumpkin pie, green beans, and whipped cream. The only problem was, as soon as we sat down to eat, we realized that we forgot the turkey! We couldn’t find it anywhere, even though I thought that we bought it. We ended up just eating the mashed potatoes and the pumpkin pie with the whipped cream on it.

My third and last thanksgiving was at my old neighbors house who now live in Onion Creek. It has been a tradition of ours to always have thanksgiving with them, and my family did not wan o break it even though they had moved away. It was like a feast, because they had a huge family who came and everyone brought something. My family brought sweet potatoes and our remaining pumpkin pie. They live on a golf course, so before the food was ready, I stayed outside and played on the golf course with my old neighbors niece, who is three. Then I stuffed myself full of turkey, sweet potatoes, bread rolls, and pumpkin pie.

Vacation

The waves lapped at the sand down the hill below the rental home, repetively making the same soothing noise. I sat in the back of the truck as my dad walked up the stairs with the keys to start it. I was wedged in between the railing and my sister, in the back of what looked like a tourist truck, because the front was shaped like a pickup trick but the back was not. In the back, instead of what is usually there, there was two benches facing each other with room underneath them for bags.

I was going with my family to the “no name beach” as we called it, because we didn’t know what it was called.(We later found out that it was Francisco Bay.) It was our favorite beach because it had the smoothest sand, the clearest water, and the best spot for snorkeling. A certain spot on the beach had the perfect place to hang our bags, because there was a fallen palm tree about three feet from the ground.

We were in St. John in the U.S.V.I,(US Virgin Islands) on the Caribbean Sea. The water was the clearest turquoise I had ever seen, with the whitest sand. It was the best vacation I have ever been on, and I went the summer I was going into the 6th grade.

This is just a glimpse of the paradise I was living in for three weeks! While we were there, we went kyacking and standup paddle boarding in the ocean, windsurfing, boogie boarding, riding in a dingy, an so much more! I saw giant lizards that were up to three feet!!! There were amazing palm trees and wildlife, with donkeys living on the island and crowding the roads. Comment if you have ever been to the Caribbean or want to go, or tell me about your amazing vacations!!!

Do you like the winter season better than the summer season?

My favorite season is the winter. I love winter. I love that it always smells like a campfire at night, and I love that I get to go iceskating, and I love drinking hot chocolate in my living room next to the fire place. Winter is amazing! And the fact that Christmas is my favorite holiday probably has something to do with that. Christmas/winter/New Years break is the best, because all I do is stay at home an watch movies, go Iceskating at least once a day, drink hot cocoa, and decorate the Christmas tree!!! I know a lot of people travel over the holidays, or go skiing, but I love staying here.

I love the summer too, but its so long, and I have more days of boredom than I have of fun. In the summer, what I mainly look forward to is summer camp, and thats only for two weeks. In winter, I am always doing something, whether its watching a christmas movie like Elf, or going iceskating.

Also, I absolutely LOVE winter clothing. I just love wearing knitted sweaters with a scarf, black leggings, and boots!!!!! I think it’s because I just like the feeling of being warm and cozy, but not hot and sweaty like the temperature in the summer.

Please comment on whatever season is your favorite, even if its spring or fall.

Volleyball

Last week in volleyball I got my first game serve over! I had served over the net before, but never during a game. It was an away game, and my coach put me in right before I was about to serve. I did one rotation, and then it was my turn to serve. I took the ball that my teammate passed to me, and I walked back to the serving line.

I looked at the referee and waited for him to blow his whistle, signaling for me to serve. He blew it, one loud, sharp, sound that silenced everyone. I bounced the ball. Once, twice. Then I through it up in the air, a tester, to see if the ball would land in front of my right foot. It did, so I through the ball again and got poised to strike, but the toss was too high and a little off of my shoulder, so I let it drop. I knew I had a limited amount of time to serve, so I tossed it again, and before I had time to think about it, I hit the ball as hard as I could while taking a step with my arm extended. I watched as the ball, my ball, went over the net. I was so happy! It was our 4th game, and I hadn’t served it over until then. Around me was a chorus of “Great job!” And “you got your serve over!” while the other team was receiving the ball. I looked around to see who had seen and my mom was standing there, with my cousin and my sister. My dad hadn’t seen, bu he would find out later. I got into position as we received the ball and sent it back over, where the other team let it hit the ground.

That meant that I got to serve again! Since I had made it over the first time, my confidence was up and I was sure I was going to make it over. So I took the ball, the referee blew his whistle, and I tossed it up and hit it again. I watched it sail over the net for the second time, where the other team received it and sent it over. This time we missed the ball and it hit the ground. The other team served. The game went on, and we lost, but that was are best game so far, especially for me. I can’t wait for another game!

Preposition Poem: Iceskating

Through the tunnel of lights
Into the skates
Laces looped around the shining silver hook
Onto the rink of slippery ice
Sliding along the rim
Across the shimmering glaze
Away from the chattering crowd
Carving swirls within the middle
Among the chilling wind
Frost biting at your fingertips
But you don’t care because you are drifting off amid the swirling snow and deep into daydreams.

Welcome to my blog!

Since summer just ended, I’m blogging about my summer camp. I miss it so much! I feel like I just left yesterday, and that I was there a day ago! Its called Laity Lodge Youth Camp, or LLYC, as I call it. I miss all my friends that I made, that live in San Antonio, Houston, and Kerrville, with some people all the way from Manhattan! I’m still in summer mode, and I can’t believe that school already started. I just want to go back and live there! But at the same time, I’m glad school has started. You may think I’m crazy, but I just missed being around my friends 24/7. Also, during the summer, I spend way to much time with my family. All the arguments with my brother and sisters have started driving me crazy. Its great to have time away from them during the week!
